All the cars I've had in the last 10 years just have self tapping screws for the front plate directly into those 'pilot' holes I beleive you're refering to.You can get these stainless self-tapping screws at any Canadian Tire (or Pep Boys for the Americans).Really, it's a no brainer Mod. Just get the adequate screw depth to do the job and don't over-torque and strip the plastic bumper so the screw won't bite and your done.Like Robbie said, a big black mounting bracket looks fugly, (the F150 still uses these because of the awkward surface to fix a bare plate on).
